Privacy Policy
Effective October 7, 2026
Yomm is a small, private way to tell people you choose that they are on your mind. This policy explains what information Yomm handles, why it is needed, and the choices you have.
Information Yomm handles
- Account information. Sign in with Apple provides the account identifier needed to create or restore your Yomm account. If Apple provides a name or email address, including a private relay address, the authentication service may also receive it. Yomm does not ask for your phone number, contacts, or Apple password.
- Your profile. Yomm stores the display name and profile photo you choose.
- Connections and activity. Yomm stores your chosen connections, pairing invitations, and the timing, participants, and state of Yomm sessions so the app can deliver and recover the experience. Secret Yomms also require Yomm to process the sender and recipient connection and session timing to enforce eligibility, deliver the interaction, and protect the service. It does not collect the contents of messages because Yomm has no message field.
- Notifications and device details. If you allow notifications, Yomm stores an Apple push token and limited installation information needed to deliver them.
- Feedback and diagnostics. If you send feedback, Yomm stores what you write. If you report a friend, Yomm also stores which profile the report is about, and that friend is not told. You can choose whether to attach a compact diagnostic containing recent Yomm events, account and session identifiers, app/build version, device model, and iOS version. Diagnostics do not include your Apple password.
How the information is used
Yomm uses this information to authenticate you, show your profile to people you connect with, create and remove connections, deliver Yomms and notifications, restore state after the app has been away, respond to feedback, diagnose problems, understand how Yomm is used and how it grows, protect the service, and comply with law. Yomm keeps those statistics itself and uses no outside analytics or advertising service.
Notifications
Yomm asks for permission to send notifications, and uses it for two things only:
- A Yomm for you. When a friend starts a Yomm with you, the notification names them. For a Secret Yomm it says only Someone is thinking about you.
- A change to your friends. When you and someone become connected, and when a friend ends your connection.
Yomm sends no reminders, news, or advertising.
You can turn notifications off in the iPhone’s Settings at any time. Though why would you, when that takes away the very point of the app: that someone can let you know, right then, that you are on their mind? You can, of course. You will then only see these inside the app, which is a bit of a shame.
Our terms of use
Use a profile photo that is yours to share and kind to the people who will see it. Do not use photos that are explicit, abusive, hateful, threatening, unlawful, or meant to impersonate or harass someone.
If a profile photo or account feels wrong, you can remove the connection in Yomm. You can also use the Feedback button in the app or contact Yomm through the support page. Yomm may remove photos or accounts that misuse the service.
When information is shared
Your chosen name and photo are visible to people you connect with and to someone previewing a valid invitation from you. A connected person can see named Yomm activity involving the two of you. For a Secret Yomm, the recipient is not told which connected person started it: Yomm does not show that sender's name, photo, account identifier, connection identifier, or a stable alias. A generic notification may say Someone is thinking about you.
Yomm relies on service providers to run the app: Apple for Sign in with Apple and push notifications, Supabase for authentication, database, file storage, and realtime delivery, and Cloudflare for this website. They process information on Yomm’s behalf under their own terms and privacy commitments. Information may also be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect people, or secure the service.
Yomm does not sell your personal information, show advertising, or use cross-app tracking.
Website privacy
Yomm does not place analytics or advertising cookies on its public website. Invitation pages generate their QR code in your browser. If you choose a language on the website, your browser remembers that choice; it is not sent to Yomm. To show who invited you, an invitation page sends the invitation code to Yomm’s backend, which returns the inviter’s name and profile photo. The code is not sent anywhere else. Cloudflare, which hosts the website, and Supabase, which runs that backend, may process ordinary request information, such as an IP address and browser details, to serve and protect the service.
Retention and deletion
Account, profile, connection, activity, feedback, and notification information is kept while needed to provide Yomm. Pairing invitations expire after their stated lifetime. Ended Secret Yomm session records are kept for a short operational window, up to 24 hours, for delivery reconciliation and diagnostics before cleanup. The diagnostic upload process removes diagnostic reports older than 30 days; a report can remain longer when no later upload has triggered that cleanup.
You can remove an individual connection from Manage connections. After removal, that person cannot Yomm you or connect again unless you send a new invitation. You can permanently delete your account from the avatar menu in Yomm. Account deletion removes your account and associated profile, photo, connections, Yomm history, feedback, diagnostics, and notification registrations. Some limited information may be retained when required for legal, security, or fraud-prevention reasons.
Security
Yomm uses access controls, encrypted network connections, and narrowly scoped server operations to protect information. No system can guarantee absolute security.
Children
Yomm is not directed to children under 13, and Yomm does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes and contact
This policy may change as Yomm develops. Material changes will be reflected here with a new effective date.
If you have a question about this policy, want to make a privacy request, or need help with how Yomm handles your information, contact Yomm. For general support, use the Support page. You can also use the Feedback button in Yomm for product feedback.
